Our foundation is named after one of the greatest of all Islamic scholars. Abu Rayhan al Biruni also known as Alberonius in Latin and Al-Biruni in English was one of the 11th century’s most brilliant scientists with important works in astronomy, mathematics,pharmacology, philosophy, botany, geology and geography. He was also a distinguished historian, a man who spoke many languages and who is recognised as the “father of geodesy”. He was a great traveller and a man who used his knowledge to write about different cultures and religions. Al-Biruni was a pioneer in the study of comparative religion and a famous Indologist primarily for his encyclopedic work on India called “Tarikh Al-Hind” (History of India or “Indica”). He was a man who created opportunity through education.

Once a sage asked why scholars always flock to the doors of the rich, whilst the rich are not inclined to call at the doors of scholars.

About the Alberonius Foundation – Ali-Biruni Foundation 

The Alberonius Foundation is a UK registered charity that helps overseas student to study and live in the UK. It was founded in 2013 and is part of the IGMG family.

The aims of the charity are to promote education by awarding scholarships, maintenance, allowances or grants, obtainable at any university, college, or institution of higher or further education and by providing educational programmes, training and conferences.
